he Health Hub team has been busy travelling and making connections with Health Centre staff over the last few months. Our team included Alisha, Nerissa and Sarah, and we attended the Atlantic First Nations Community Health Nursing Workshop in Dartmouth, May 12-14. It was a great opportunity to have a booth and meet many other health professionals working in First Nation Communities across Atlantic Canada. Our participation allowed us to meet in person with many Health Hub users and receive feedback about what is working and what folks want more of. One request included more notifications on ceremony and cultural events.

A wonderful opportunity to attend a significant cultural event happened on June 4th. The 300th anniversary celebration of the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1726. We travelled as a team to Fort Anne in Annapolis Royal and had a booth highlighting the Health Hub and our current work with Health Impact Assessment Services. This department serves under the Environmental Public Health Division and the Indigenous Services of Canada. The work included the making of an infographic and pamphlet that makes the link between environmental health and birth back. Restoring Indigenous midwifery is one project that has been happening in the Innu First Nation communities in Labrador and was one good work that was also included in the presentations at the Atlantic First Nations Community Health Nursing Workshop previously mentioned. The Health Hub recently posted a documentary-style video on the return of birth to the Innu First Nation community. A full circle of events, people and ceremonies.

The attendance was counted at more than 1200 folks. The team at MK were a strong and significant presence, volunteering and working at the Celebration. We were happy to take part and have a lot of important conversations around the continued work of protecting our treaty rights, environment and its strong and essential connection to health, especially maternal child health.
