Atlantic First Nation Health Hub

The Health Hub is an Intranet for staff at Atlantic First Nation Health Centres. The main purpose of the Health Hub is to provide a  knowledge exchange of health-related information. This private virtual platform gives health staff the ability to network, collaborate, store and share information.

In 2020, a nursing survey project identified a need for a virtual “one stop shop” space for nurses. The idea grew into a “one stop shop” for all health-related staff, in the Atlantic region. The project was designed to address digital information sharing and storage needs. The Health Hub is a digital space to house a directory, calendar, message board, electronic storage and sharing of forms, templates, documents, webinars and education materials, etc.

The project is in partnership between Atlantic First Nation Tech Services, ISC and Wow Digital. Serving to bridge the information gap between all 33 Atlantic First Nation Health Centres, Treatment Centres and Tribal Organizations health departments.

The Health Hub is now LIVE!

The project has gone full circle from the nurse’s idea to a public launch at the Atlantic First Nation Nursing Professional Development & Networking session that took place in April of 2023.Information and resources are still being collected.

The project is still in the initial development stages of gathering, organizing and uploading content. Health Hub presentations and information sessions are continuously being conducted within organizations, public events and to various staff.

Next steps… Content, Content, Content!

We continue to build connections with health staff to gather content. The Health Hub is making great headway by bringing awareness and traffic to the private virtual platform. Support from all parties involved will help the success of the project.
