Atlantic First Nations Health Hub: Progress Report
The Health Hub continues to grow as a vital resource for Atlantic First Nations health professionals. From increased user engagement to expanded technical features, we are seeing the platform evolve into a central pillar for collaboration and information sharing.
By the Numbers
Our user base is active and growing, ensuring that digital health resources reach those on the front lines:
- 406 Registered Users (including 366 Health Centre staff).
- 76% Participation Rate: 25 of 33 Health Centres are actively uploading content.
- High Engagement: An average of 207 users log into the Hub every week.
- Governance: The Health Hub Advisory Committee has successfully completed its 3 scheduled meetings for the year.
New & Recent Developments
We are constantly refining the platform to improve functionality and clinical relevance. Recent updates include:
- Expanded Content: New dedicated sections for Healthy Child Development, Indigenous Perspectives on Menopause, and ISC Virtual Education.
- User Tools: Added a "Delete" function on dashboards for better data management and launched Weekly Notifications (2x per week) to keep users informed.
- Support & Quality: Introduced Monthly Virtual Drop-in Sessions for user support.
The Road Ahead: Future Development
We are looking forward to several high-impact additions designed to support holistic wellness and technical capacity:
- Mental Wellness: A new section featuring an Interactive Map to help users visualize and access resources.
- Custom Dashboards: Specialized views tailored for Treatment Centres and Tribal Councils.
- E-Health Tab: A comprehensive hub for E-health priorities, tech utilization, virtual care training, and strategic planning.
Community Outreach: APC Health Conference
In February, the Health Hub was well-represented at the APC Health Conference. The Health Hub Coordinator hosted a dedicated booth for two days, focusing on:
- Direct Engagement: Meeting with attendees to demonstrate Hub features.
- Networking: Connecting with other booths and organizations to discuss integrated health approaches.
- Collaboration: Identifying new opportunities to align the Hub with the needs of the communities we serve.
