Health Hub Update

November 10, 2025

The Health Hub advisory committee met in early October. Feedback continues to circle back to the immediate needs of our communities to have more support and services around mental wellness. In response to this feedback, the Health Hub will soon have an interactive map and page that will highlight the resources and facilities available in the Atlantic First Nation regions.

Menopause is one aspect of women’s health related to mental wellness that is being highlighted during Menopause World Awareness Month. Following the 2024 ISC Let’s Talk series topic about Hormone Therapy for (peri) menopause, the level of interest was made obvious. This allowed the Health Hub to engage interest, and a request was made for continued support, especially an Indigenous perspective on this important life stage.

Culturally relevant content around ceremony and language has been requested. A special request from an elder in New Brunswick is being realized, an infographic on placental burial, the handling and safety of placentas, especially as more families are requesting to keep their placentas post birth. Additionally, a welcoming prayer and protocol around the first bath ceremony will be posted as well.

We are seeking health resources such as handwashing, smoking cessation and dental hygiene in Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqey and Innu Amun First Nation to share on the Health Hub. Please contact us if you would like to share any common resources your health centres or schools are using.
