Getting to Know the AFNTS Team - Issue 6

June 20, 2025

By

Natalie MacMillan

Hi my name is Sean Carroll.  Prior to starting in my role as a Network Project Coordinator with AFNTS, I held several senior cybersecurity and executive roles on the West Coast.  I have recently moved back to Nova Scotia and enjoy yoga, spending time with my 15 year old son, walks, hikes, snowboarding and reading!

Alisha Julien Reid is a Mi'kmaq-trained Midwife who graduated from the McMaster Midwifery Education Program in 2013. After spending years practicing in Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick she moved back to her home community Millbrook First Nation in 2020. Alisha has been working closely with Mi'kmaq families to have more culturally safe births and access to ceremony during prenatal, postpartum and beyond. Alisha is looking forward to working with Nerissa and the team at the AFNTS to create access on the Health Hub to content that is First Nation led.

Natalie MacMillan has been our AFNTS / HR Admin Assistant since February 2025. She got her degree in Office Administration in 2016 at NSCC. Prior to working at MK, she spent the last two years as a Ward Clerk in the Recovery Room at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. In her free time, Natalie likes to go hiking, 4-wheeling with her friends, spending her summers at the beach and spending time with her family. In the winter she likes to snowboard, which she has been doing for the last 20 years.
