Jenna is an Assistive Technology Support Worker at Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey. You will see her in our MK schools working with schools to encourage the use of assistive technology on low, medium, and high tech levels. Jenna works exclusively with MK schools.
Jenna has a range of experience working within the education system and with neurodiverse learners. She has a Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education and has spent the past 5 years teaching at Paqtnkek Education Centre in a range of grades and subjects. Jenna values using a UDL & trauma-informed approach backed by meaningful technology integration to support all learners. Jenna is a Google Certified Educator, Apple Teacher, SeeSaw Ambassador and Apple Distinguished Educator. Some of Jenna’s responsibilities are providing support for educational assistants, teachers, and students for implementing assistive technology-related practices in education, collaborating with teachers to design UDL-rich classrooms and fostering strength-based teaching practices.
Outside of the office, Jenna loves to learn new things and spend time outdoors with her golden retriever. She can be seen spending most of her downtime on a beach catching a sunset.
As an Assistive Technology Support Worker, Sunnie works with schools and communities to support learners and educators and to make learning more accessible and inclusive. She brings several years of school-based experience, including time as a Learning Centre Coordinator, and is a certified Google Educator and Apple Teacher. She is especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent learners and creating spaces where every child feels understood and capable.
As a proud mom of four neurodivergent boys, much of her time outside of work is spent on the soccer field or at the hockey rink cheering them on. Being their mom has shaped her patience, creativity, and strong sense of advocacy and continues to guide how she shows up for others each day.
Together, her work and family life continue to shape her commitment to inclusion, empathy, and supporting every learner.
