📱 Your Digital Footprint Lasts Longer Than the School Year

As we approach the end of another school year, students (and adults!) are often thinking about summer plans, report cards, and maybe a well-earned break from screens. But before we log off for the summer, it’s a good time to reflect on something that won’t take a break: your digital footprint.

Every post, share, comment, or like leaves a mark. Whether you're posting on Instagram, commenting on a classmate’s TikTok, or replying to a Discord thread, it’s all part of a growing profile that can follow you for years. That’s why we remind students: your digital footprint lasts longer than the school year.

As you tidy up your desk or locker, take 15 minutes to do the same online:

• Delete old posts that are not necessary or shut down accounts you don’t use anymore.
  
  
• Check your privacy settings: do you know who can see your content?
  
  
• Think before you post this summer: Is it kind? Is it true? Is it necessary?
  
  
• Protect your personal info when using public platforms or group chats.
