Cyber hygiene refers to proactive measures that one can take to ensure the safety of their digital information. This combination of best practices can protect the user from various cyber threats, phishing attacks and identity theft.
Just like washing your hands to prevent the spread of germs or bacteria, cyber hygiene is a defensive approach to negate the risks that exist in the digital world.
1. Creating strong Passwords, complexity using a variety of numbers, letters and special characters. It is highly recommended to use a password manager such as 1Password or Bitwarden to randomly generate your complex passwords.
2. Software updates are performed weekly to ensure your computer is protected against rising industry threats
3. Phishing Awareness, lessening your attack vector by differentiating between a fraudulent email and a real email. Be sure to forward all suspicious emails to phishing@kinu.ca.
4. To trust or not to trust Public Wi-Fi, always be conscious of free WIFI and threats involved by accessing unknown networks and opening the door for intrusion tactics.
Have a technical question or problem? Report it to us with our Ticket System!
Our AFNTS support ticket system is a tool that organizes user concerns and questions throughout our organization. We promote this tool so that we can create a documented trail for each incident or request. As the request comes through, a record is created and an AFNTS representative is assigned to the record, that representative will update the notes and reply directly to the user who opened the ticket.
AFNTS encourages users to use the Support Ticket System when technical or network-related issues arise.
